biggest problem with the video ads is they slow the browser down when trying to load and play. one thing people liked most about digg, just like craigslist, and google, is its simplicity. Eye candy just slows the site down.

I agree 100%. In an office environment I can't have people walking by seeing that I am on a website with questionable ads the size of a poker card.
And no I cannot install ad blocking programs on Firefox or IE. The work computer is locked down.
Seems like over the course of the last few months that the ads on Digg have gotten very obnoxious. Is Microsoft supplying the ads now? I know they inked a deal a few months back. This looks like the kind of thing I would expect from Microsoft - the ads are "tasteless".
Text ads are annoying enough but pictures/videos leave it open for much more offensive content being put before you without the option of saying "NO!". I try to block ad pages and ad servers whenever possible just for this reason.
And to those who cannot comment beyond the sub-100 IQ "Your a faggot" - go back to 3rd grade and learn the difference between "your" and "you're". Then again it's hard to tell the difference when all you listen to are (c)rap lyrics.
Digg provides an amazing service.

I used to have AdBlock installed for Firefox. On this somewhat new install, I didn't put it out - it really hasn't been a issue, as for most pages I visit the ads are toned down (and I even click on them sometimes, to support the site).
It just seems like Digg has gone over the top as of late. I ended up installing Adblocker last night - so whatever I guess.

If your smart enough why don't you close the window 1/3 of the way so it will block the advertisement on the right side of the screen.
